We experienced a lovely combination of a full moon, complete lunar eclipse and fine weather on the 10th of December.  (Usually, my chances to observe astral phenomena are hampered by inclement weather)

I wish I had an SLR camera and decent tripod (the moon was at a very high elevation), but had to make do with our compact.  You can see the results here…

“And so it begins”…  At about 10 PM local time.

Near complete. At about 11 PM.  The lack of light was more than my camera could handle…
